Hemoglobin Blood Tests
Hemoglobin is the iron-containing protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen. A hemoglobin test (part of a CBC) detects anemia or polycythemia, guides treatment, and can inform transfusion decisions. Normal ranges vary by lab and clinicians interpret results with symptoms and other tests.
